Bathtime!!!

We knew Gavin loved bathtime...but tonight we realized just how much he loves it. I'll be honest...we don't have bath every single night...and tonight was a "non bath night". After dinner G seemed pretty fussy and nothing was pleasing him. He kept reaching his arm out and pointing to his bathroom door. So, we kept asking him, "Gavin, do you want to take a bath??" he got so excited! Jason and I just cracked up...so we said - well, bathtime it is! Even though Gavin can't actually talk yet...he is pretty good at communicating! He was so excited, he loves splashing in the water, playing with his bath toys, and even putting his face in the water. It was the perfect time for a mini photo session. Enjoy these precious pictures!

Doors, doors, everywhere doors...

Gavin's biggest obsession is doors. Yes, you heard me....doors. Cabinet doors, bedroom doors, closet doors, bathroom doors....any door he can get to...he wants to be a part of it. We now have a routine when we get home from work/school in the afternoons....we close all of the doors, or wedge them with something so he can't close them. This started after the day he locked himself in his bedroom! He could sit for hours and just open and close....open and close....open and close.....

i WILL close this door before you come after me!!!!

One of my favorite "door obsession" shots!!!!

just a typical day at the Oliver house...

his OWN doors to open and close...and SLAM!

12 months....1 year!?!?!

Yes, I know...I'm late on the monthly update.
On Gavin's one year check up he was 23.4 pounds (65th percentile) and 31 inches tall (90th percentile). He had a fantastic check up and we are just beyond blessed to have a healthy and HAPPY child! Gavin isn't walking yet...but we know it will come in due time. He has been pulling up and standing on his own for months now, so we know he will be walking before we know it. Gavin now has 8 teeth. He has all 4 front top teeth and all 4 front bottom teeth. He is a fantastic eater and is fully on table food now. He will eat just about anything you put in front of him. He LOVES my homemade mashed potatoes, loves cheese grits with an egg on top, still loves any kind of red sauced italian food...and ADORES mandarin orange segments. He's a great self feeder...although we constantly struggle with him getting enough from a sippy cup. He just drinks so much more when we hold it. So, we are constantly working on that. Gavin isn't clearly saying any words yet on his own....but mommy and daddy definitely know his own language. :) he has this certain laugh that he gives when he REALLY loves a certain food. We definitely know the difference in his cries (hurting, mad, frustrated, needy). He started daycare a few weeks ago and its been an adjustment. However, he's doing great and we are thrilled at how quickly he has gained the praise of his teachers. Gavin LOVES to shut doors. It's probably his favorite thing to do. He could sit and swing a door open and shut for hours!!! The same with cabinet doors too. Santa might be bringing a play kitchen for our little guy. :) Then he won't be messing with my kitchen cabinets. LOL.
We just love our little guy more and more every day. He warms our hearts, makes us smile, and more and more thankful with each passing moment that God brought this special boy into our lives!!! We love you sweet Gavin!!!

Gavin's one year pics

We had a great photo session with the beloved Kristy Pruet a few weeks ago to celebrate Gavin's first birthday and to hopefully snap some Christmas card photo choices. Unfortunately Gavin was feeling a bit under the weather and it was a very cold morning. HOWEVER...we were able to get some great shots and I know we will forever treasure these awesome photos.... Thank you Kristy! As always...you are a rock star!
